About the Temple

Shree Sharavu Mahaganapathi Temple is a famous temple located at the heart of Mangalore at Sharavu Temple Lane on K. It is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and Lord Shiv is also worshipped there. The temple is almost 800 years old. The lore says that the temple was constructed by King Veerabahu when he killed a cow accidenteally on a hunting expedition. For remedy of his sin he constructed this temple. The temple has been popular since ancient times as Tipu Sultan used to visit this temple.
